Abstract

Objectives: Investigate the protective effect of “Kien ty chi thong HV” remedy on rats with indomethacine- induced gastric-duodenal ulcer.

Methods and materials: The animals were divided into 5 groups: Group 1(control), group 2 (model), group 3 (misoprostol 50μg/kg), group 4 (KTHV 15g/kg) and group 5 (KTHV 30g/kg). All of rats were treated for 7 consecutive days. On day 7, rats were induced peptic-duodenal ulcers by oral indomethacine 40mg/kg. After 6 h, the number of rats with ulcer, ulcer index, the percentage of inhibition against ulceration, macroscopic and microscopic images were estimated.

Results: Indomethacine caused peptic ulcer in 100% of rats. KTHV at both doses reduced the number of ulcers and the ulcer indexes, increasing the percentage of inhibition against ulceration, decreasing the level of severity of gastric-duodenal ulcer in macroscopic and microscopic images when compared with model group.
