Evaluation of the effects of electroacupuncture combined with acupressure massage in the treatment of migraine headaches

Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the results of electroacupuncture combined with acupressure massage to treat Migraine headaches.


Subjects and research methods: Intervention study comparing before and after treatment on 45 patients diagnosed with migraine according to selection and treatment criteria at Da Nang Traditional Medicine Hospital from 10/2022 - 7/2023.


Results: After 28 days of treatment, the patients had statistically significant improvement in pain level according to VAS scale, improvement in impact on life according to MIDAS and HIT-6TM questionnaires, improvement in sleep quality according to PSQI questionnaire, improvement in general treatment, and functional symptoms compared to before treatment (p<0.01).


Conclusion: The method of combining electroacupuncture and acupressure is effective in treating patients with Migraine-type headache.
