Abstract

Objectives: Survey the antibacterial ability of Nano silver and ethanol solution to help select the lowest concentration of silver Nano and ethanol for the highest antibacterial effect.

Methods: This research conducted by method of dilute concentrations of other silver nanoparticles solution and ethanol using P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853, S. aureus ATCC 25923 and E. coli ATCC 11775.

Results: Nano silver solution of 1.53 ppm in ethanol with concentration in water from 40.4% to 70.3% has the ability to kill bacteria 100% at all incubation times. Nano silver solution of 1.53 ppm in 30.4% ethanol only kills 100% of bacteria VK P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and S. aureus ATCC 25923 when incubated for 1h, 2h

or 4h and kills 100% of E.coli ATCC 11775 at all incubation times were performed. Nano silver solution of 1.53 ppm in 20.4% ethanol, 10.5% did’nt have significant bactericidal effect. Silver Nano solution with concentrations of 1.02; 0.51; 0.26 ppm in 40.4% ethanol were 100% bactericidal at all incubation times.

Conclusion: Nano silver 0.26 ppm combined with ethanol 40.4% was the lowest concentration with totally bactericidal activity against all 3 strains of microorganisms studied: P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853, S. aureus ATCC 25923 and E. coli ATCC 11775.
