Survey on knowledge and practice of hand hygiene to prevent Covid-19 infection of students at Ha Noi medical college in 2020

Abstract
Circumstance and reasons for research: The Covid epidemic is causing serious economic, political and social consequences in Vietnam and the world. In Covid prevention measures, hand hygiene is considered as one of the important steps to be emphasized and strongly implemented at Hanoi Medical College.
Method: Descriptive cross-sectional study, 749 students.
Results: 54.3% of students have knowledge; 45.7% of students have unsatisfactory knowledge. Percentage of students practicing hand hygiene according to points is 50.6%, not 49.4%. There are 3 factors related to knowledge of hand hygiene are students studying 2nd year or more (OR = 2.18; 95% CI: 1.59-2.96); students have access to hand hygiene at the hospital (OR = 3, 31; 95% CI: 1.89- 5.81); students can learn both theory and practice of hand hygiene at school (OR = 2.06; 95% CI: 1.10- 3.84). There is a relationship to practice hand hygiene is female (OR = 1.49; 95% CI: (1.02-2.18).
Conclusion: Students' knowledge and practice of hand hygiene are not good. Factors related to hand hygiene are female students, second year students and older students. Up, learn hand hygiene at the hospital, be trained in both theory and practice of hand hygie.
Recommendations: Hanoi medical college need to strengthen training in combination of theory and skills hand hygiene for students, especially male students.
