Assessing the effectiveness of modified Doc hoat tang ky sinh remedy combined with therapeutic ultrasound in the treatment of low back pain at Thanh Hoa hospital of traditional medicine and pharmacy

Abstract

Objectives: Evaluate the effectiveness of modified Doc hoat tang ky sinh remedy combined with therapeutic ultrasound in treating spondylosis-induced low back pain.


Subjects and methods: A controlled prospective clinical intervention study, comparing before - after treatment was held on 60 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of spondylosis-induced low back pain, randomly divided into two groups: 30 patients in the study group were treated with modified Doc hoat tang ky sinh remedy combined with therapeutic ultrasound and 30 patients in the control group were treated with therapeutic ultrasound only at Thanh Hoa Hospital of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy from February 2022 to the end of November 2022.


Results: After 20 days of treatment, all patients had reduced VAS pain scores, increased lumbar spine stretch, increased lumbar spine range of motion, and improved daily living function according to the ODI scale. Overall treatment efficiency: In the study group: Good accounted for 76.67%; Fair: 16.67%, and Moderate: 6.66%; In the control group: Good accounted for 50%; Fair: 33.33%, Moderate: 16.67%; The treatment effect of the study group was higher than that of the control group (p<0.05).


Conclusions: Modified Doc hoat tang ky sinh remedy combined with therapeutic ultrasound is safe and effective in treating spondylosis-induced low back pain.
