Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate the results of combining therapeutic ultrasound with electroacupuncture and acupressure in treating sciatica at Nghe An Traditional Medicine Hospital.

Subjects and methods: A prospective clinical intervention study, before-after comparison was held from May 2022 to October 2022. Study group: 40 patients were treated with acupressure, electroacupuncture, and therapeutic ultrasound. Control group: 40 patients were treated with acupressure and electroacupuncture.

Results: After 14 days of treatment, the average VAS index of the study group was 2.55±0.74 points, the improvement of daily living function was good and fair accounted for 85%, the result was good and fair reached 82.5%; This result tends to be better than the control group.

Conclusions: The method of combining therapeutic ultrasound with electroacupuncture and acupressure is effective in treating sciatica.
