Study on the subchronic toxicity and anti-gastric ulcer effect of Khoi tim Bavieco hard capsules on wistar rats
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the subchronic toxicity and the experimental anti-gastric ulcer effect of Khoi Tim Bavieco hard capsules.
Subjects and methods: The subchronic toxicity was studied according to Vietnam Ministry of Health’s guidelines while anti-gastric ulcer effect was tested on the model of Wistar rats’ gastric ulcers caused by Indomethacin.
Results: All rats are still active, walking, eating, urinating normally. The rats’ weights increased statistically significantly on days 15 and 30 compared to those of day 0 (p < 0.001), but there were no differences between the control group and treated groups (p>0,05). The hematological, biochemical and histological indices of rats between the control group and tested groups and between differentiated study times were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Khoi Tim capsules at both doses of 415.8 and 1,247.4 mg/kg/day × 30 days have its ability to reduce ulcer indices, percentages of ulcer inhibition and microscopic damage to rats’ stomachs.
Conclusions: Khoi Tim Bavieco hard capsules did not show toxicity to the physical conditions, hematopoietic functions, liver and kidney functions of experimental rats and has anti-gastric ulcer effect on the model of gastric ulcer caused by indomethacin.
