Evaluation of acute and subchronic toxicities of Cot thong Tue Tinh liquid extracts in experiments

Abstract
Objectives: Evaluation acute toxicity and subchronic toxicity of Cot Thong Tue Tinh in experimental animals.
Subjects and methods: Determination of acute toxicity in white mice by Litchfield-Wilcoxon method and subchronic toxicity in Wistar rats based on guidelines of the Ministry of Health.
Results: At a dose 13.8 times higher than the equivalen human dose, Cot Thong Tue Tinh liquid extract did not cause acute oral toxicity in mice. Furthermore, with two oral dose regimens of 6 (equivalent to the expected human dose) and 18g/kg/day x 28 consecutive days, Cot Thong Tue Tinh did not significantly change hematological and biochemical indices in white rats.
Conclusions: Cot Thong Tue Tinh liquid extract did not cause acute toxicity in mice and did not significantly change the weight, hematological, liver and kidney function indices of rats.
