Optimization of the formula for preparing effervescent tablets from the traditional medicine of Si jun zi tang

Abstract

Objectives: To modernize the traditional medicine of Si Jun Zi Tang in the form of effervescent tablets.


Subjects and methods: Preparation of effervescent tablets from the traditional medicine Si Jun Zi Tang by wet granulation method combined with formula optimization by Response Surface method through the use of Design-Expert software.


Results: TQT effervescent tablets 3.5 g with optimal formula ingredients including: TQT dry extract (28.57%), citric acid (21.82%), sodium bicarbonate (21.82%), sodium carbonate (5%), PEG 6000 (6.72%), Aerosil (0.77%), sodium benzoate (0.5%), saccharin (0.5%), lactose (14.3%).


Conclusion: Successfully preparing TQT effervescent tablets overcomes the disadvantages of decoction (long decoction time, difficult to preserve, inconsistent quality); ensure quality, safety, effectiveness (relatively accurate single dose, compact volume, easy to transport and preserve, stable ingredients, long shelf life); increase accessibility, use for people with difficulty swallowing, children, the elderly.
