Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of On kinh phuong patches combined with electroacupuncture in the treatment of simple shoulder periarthritis.

Subjects and research methods: A prospective research, open randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) was conducted on 70 patients with simple periarthritis of the shoulder, who were under the treatment at Tue Tinh Hospital and 108 Central Military Hospital from May 2024 to August 2024. Patients were divided into 2 groups: Control group were treated with electroacupuncture, while study group were treated with On kinh phuong patches combined with electroacupuncture. Treatment period: 21 days.

Results: The study showed that after 21 days of treatment, the study group achieved better outcomes than the control group (p<0.001). In the study group, 85.7% had good results, 14.3% had fair results, and 0.0% had average results. These outcomes were higher than those of the control group, with 48.6% achieving good results, 40.0% fair results, and 11.4% average Conclusions: The treatment of using On kinh phuong patches in combination with electroacupuncture is safe and effective for patients with simple periarthritis of the shoulder.
