Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the analgesis effect and range of motion improvement results of On kinh phuong patches combined with infrared therapy on patients with knee osteoarthritis.

Subjects and methods: 70 patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis, prospective study, clinical intervention, comparison before and after treatment with case control study.

Results: After 21 days of treatment, using On kinh phuong patches combined with infrared therapy had the effect of improving pain symptoms according to VAS (the reduction difference D₀-D₂₁ in the study group was 3.80 ± 1.02, the control group was 3.02 ± 0.70), motor function according to Lequesne (the reduction difference D₀-D₂₁ in the study group was 4.0 ± 1.25, the control group was 2.0 ± 1.23), knee flexion range of motion (the increase difference D₂₁-D₀ in the study group was 20.2 ± 13.39, the control group was 10.57 ± 9.05) in patients with knee osteoarthritis.

Conclusion: Treatment of knee osteoarthritis with On kinh phuong patches combined with infrared therapy is highly effective in clinical practice.
