Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of electroacupuncture combined with the remedy Khuong hoat tuc doan thang in treating patients with Wind-Cold-Dampness periarthritis of the shoulder.

Subjects and methods: A clinical intervention was conducted on 30 patients with Wind-Cold-Dampness periarthritis of the shoulder treated with electroacupuncture combined with the Khuong hoat tuc doan thang for 20 days, comparing before and after treatment.

Results: The study results showed that the average VAS score of the study group decreased from 6.2±2.8 to 1.2±4.9. The range of motion of the shoulder joint in all three movements of abduction, internal rotation and external rotation also improved statistically (p<0.05).

Conclusion: The method of electro-acupuncture combined with the remedy Khuong hoat tuc doan thang has the effect of reducing pain and increasing the range of motion of the shoulder joint on patients with Wind-Cold-Dampness periarthritis of the shoulder.
