Abstract

Objective: To assess the current status of relative contraindication interactions of outpatient prescriptions at Friendship Hospital in 2023.

Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted to build a list of relative contraindication interactions, and collect data on outpatient drug prescriptions at Friendship Hospital in 2023.

Results: The study identified 119 pairs of relative contraindicated interactions in outpatient treatment. The number of outpatient prescriptions with this interaction is 166 prescriptions (rate of 34.4/10,000 prescriptions), mainly 1 pair/prescription (84.3%). Cardiovascular drugs have the most interactions (112 pairs), followed by hypoglycemic drugs (73 pairs). The disease with the most interactions is severe renal failure with creatinine clearance < 30mL/min with 177 pairs (91.7%). The relative  contraindication interactions pair with the highest rate is perindopril + amlodipine with severe renal failure (48.2%).

Conclusion: According to the list of outpatient relative contraindication interactions, 34.4/10,000 prescriptions were found to have this interaction, primarily involving one pair per prescription. The most critical interaction (91.7%) involved cardiovascular drugs and severe renal failure (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min).
