HEPATOPROTECTIVE, ANTIOXIDANT, AND CHOLERETIC EFFECTS OF MED001 TABLETS IN EXPERIMENTS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the hepatoprotective, antioxidant, and choleretic effects of MED001 tablets in Swiss albino mice.
Subjects and methods: The composition of MED001 tablets includes: Extractum Fel suillum, Bulbus allii sativi, Extractum Cynarae cicuss, and activated charcoal. Experimental controlled studies were conducted. The study evaluated the hepatoprotective and antioxidant effects on an acute hepatotoxicity model induced by paracetamol; the choleretic effect was assessed using the Rudi method; MED001 tablets were administered at a dose of 0.72 – 1.44 tablets/kg. Parameters such as ALT, AST, albumin, MDA, histological damage, and choleretic effect were monitored.
Results: MED001 at 0.72 tablets/kg significantly reduced AST (↓36.9%), ALT (↓30.4%), and MDA (↓28.6%), while restoring serum albumin levels (+19.8%) comparable to silymarin. The 1.44 tablets/kg dose showed superior antioxidant activity (↓MDA 46.1%), improved liver histoarchitecture, and enhanced bile secretion (+48.0%), equivalent to artichoke extract.
Conclusion: MED001 exhibited significant hepatoprotective, antioxidant, and bile-promoting effects in an acute liver injury model, providing a scientific basis for its potential application in the supportive treatment of hepatobiliary diseases.
