EVALUATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MOTOR FUNCTION REHABILITATION IN CHILDREN WITH SPASTIC CEREBRAL PALSY USING PDO EMBEDDING THERAPY

Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of motor function rehabilitation in children with spastic cerebral palsy using PDO (Polydioxanone) embedding tharapy and to investigate any potential adverse effects of the treatment method.
Subjects and methods: A comparative clinical intervention study was conducted, comparing pre- and post-treatment outcomes. Sixty patients diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy were divided into two groups matched for age and gender: the study group received treatment with electro-acupuncture, pharmacotherapy, acupressure combined with PDO embedding therapy, while the control group received treatment without PDO embedding therapy.
Results: After 24 days of treatment, both groups showed improvements in motor function as assessed by the GMFM and ASHWORTH scales (p<0.05); however, the study group showed significantly greater improvement compared to the control group (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The combination of PDO embedding therapy with electrical acupuncture, pharmacotherapy and acupressure improves gross motor function in children with spastic cerebral palsy more effectively than treatment without PDO embedding therapy (p<0.05).
