Study on the acute and subchronic toxicity of Trung hoa vi capsules
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To determine the acute toxicity and subchronic toxicity of the Trung hoa vi capsules.
Subjects and methods: Determine acute oral toxicity of Trung hoa vi capsules by the Litchfield- Wilcoxon method according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and WHO. The study on oral subchronic toxicity of Trung hoa vi capsules in rats was conducted according to WHO's guidelines for herbal medicines.
Results: Acute toxicity: LD50 of Trung hoa vi capsules has not been determined in mice, taken orally. Trung hoa vi capsules showed no acute toxicity at a dose of 60 tablets. Subchronic toxicity: Trung hoa vi capsules did not cause subchronic toxicity in rats when given 2 doses: 0.53 g/kg/day (equivalent to the expected clinical dose) and 1.59g/kg/day, continuously for 90 days.
Conclusions: Trung hoa vi capsules did not cause acute toxicity and subchronic toxicity in experimental animals.
