Assessing the effectiveness of the polydioxanon needle threading method combined with doc hoat tang ky sinh tablets in treating knee osteoarthritis due to wind - cold dampness at the Ho Chi Minh city traditional medicine hospital

Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the analgesic effect and unwanted effects of PDO thread embedding combined with Doc hoat tang ky sinh tablets on patients with wind-cold-dampness knee osteoarthritis
Subjects and method: A randomized, controlled clinical intervention study was held on 60 patients diagnosed with primary knee osteoarthritis; wind-cold-dampness type, at the Examination Department - Traditional Medicine Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City. Result: The rate of pain reduction, stiffness reduction and improvement in knee joint mobility according to WOMAC in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group (p<0.05). The rate of patients with improved pain according to VAS after 4 weeks of treatment in the study group was 56.67%. The rate of patients with side effects such as swelling, pain and bleeding was 10% and 3.33% respectively in the study group.
Conclusion: The method of PDO threads embedding combined with Doc hoat tang ky sinh tablets is a safe method, effective in pain relief in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.
